Singapore Flyer, Tourist Destination Guide
Singapore Flyer is the Ferris wheel in Singapore, and is currently the world’s largest Ferris wheel, with a total height of 165 m ( 541 ft). This exceeds the Stars Nanchang by 5 m (16 ) and the London Eye by 30 m (98 ft).
Located on the southeastern tip of land reclamation Marina Centre, it consists of wheel diameter 150 m (492 ft), built on the three-storey terminal building which houses shops, bars and restaurants, and offers extensive views of downtown and out into about 45 km (28 miles), including the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan, as well as Johor, Malaysia.
Singapore Flyer starts spinning on February 11, 2008 and officially opened to the public on March 1, 2008. Originally spun in a counterclockwise direction when viewed from the Marina Centre, the direction changed on August 4, 2008 under the advice of Feng Shui master.
